About the event
Chico Area Recreation and Park District (CARD) invites you to come fly a kite at Kite Day, a free community event that beckons families to play outside and share a fun day in the park. Local radio station 92.7 BOB FM will be playing music throughout the afternoon alongside additional activities like face painting, bounce houses, activities from CARD and much more!
The Gateway Science Museum will be teaching everyone just how the winds are generated with a hands-on experiment about clouds! And for a special treat, come sing “Chim Chim Cheree” with Mary Poppins and Bert, who will be taking photos, singing songs and flying kites from 1-3 PM. We know we’re going to have a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious time!
After all the kite flying, bouncing, dancing and more, we know there will be some hungry folks, so Fork in the Road food trucks Gnarly Deli, Mocking Byrd Coffee, Spun Cotton Candy, Slyderz Grill, The Lab Street Eats, Chico Chamangos and the Black Kettle will be on hand with delicious food and drink available for purchase.
Save yourself some time looking for parking and ride a bike to Kite Day! Chico Velo will be on hand valeting bikes for everyone!
Co-sponsors Bird in Hand and Golden Valley Bank help make Chico Kite Day possible. CARD will have complimentary kites available for the first 100 kids and Bird in Hand will have complimentary commemorative buttons for all kite flyers!
